On August 1, the Land and Environmental Remediation Center under CECEP China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) responded promptly to the call of the Miyun Highway Branch of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport. A post-disaster geological hazard investigation team was immediately formed and dispatched to the disaster-affected areas of Miyun District to carry out inspections of potential geological hazard risks, laying a solid foundation for safeguarding people’s lives and property and for promoting the scientific reconstruction of the area.

Landslides Triggered by Heavy Rainfall in Miyun Disctrict, Beijing

The investigation team focused on conducting a comprehensive “health check” of disaster-prone sites along the highways. Their work included examining the stability of surrounding slopes, testing the rock and soil structure beneath the roadbed to assess potential risks of landslides and collapses, and meticulously documenting the geological structures of washed-out road sections as well as local hydrological conditions. The team also analyzed the impacts of flooding on the geological environment and gathered first-hand data to support post-disaster restoration plans. Through these efforts, the investigation team is striving to contribute professional expertise to the reconstruction of Miyun District in the aftermath of the disaster.
